Photo blogs are good for the soul

I love a good photo blog. One like Joanna Rees has. Any others we should be aware of?

  1. Hmm, mine seems to have dissapeared. Here it goes again: http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com. It’s a blog on synthesizers filled with images of synths I gather daily. Synthesizers have had a profound effect on music. You hear them everyday. Currently things are moving more towards software based synthesizers and the old hardware synths are becoming a thing of the past. I am attempting to capture this bit of technical music history through photos that show up on Ebay and other places. I know it might sound odd, and isn’t true photography coming from me, but I believe it has a place and a profound impact that not everyone may see or appreciate. All of this is going to be lost in history. I hope my blog will keep some of these memories alive.

    cheers,

  3. Thanks Robert I feel very flattered by your comments. Take care and have a good weekend. Tonight I’m going to be taking some more photographs of HsinChu and going through my photographic collection that is a visual diary of my life and experiences.

Quite often while taking about photography with other professional photographers I encounter the question; are images real or created? To some photography is something that is planned and meticulously executed, but to me it is something that just happens. It is a witnessed experience, a creative exchange, or a lived moment that I participated in.

Unlike some photographers, I never really know how my photographs are going to turn out and quite frankly I like it that way. Most of my work is shot without a flash using slow synch or long exposure; and there is not way to fully predict how the light or subject will be realized. To me that is the magic of photography and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Take care and all the best,

  5. Yes, all good points but I’m suffering in silence.

I’ve got chronic tinea. And it’s itchy! It started in my toes, but didn’t waste any time making its way to my crotch.

Bugger, sometimes it’s tough being a Kiwi!
