Happy Halloween photos

I’m sure more will be coming (in a little more than an hour Thomas Hawk made about 500 images) but here’s the first images from last night’s photowalk around Half Moon Bay’s pumpkin farms. I wish I had Thomas’ talent. While we were walking around (following Thomas is quite a workout, especially since I need to go everywhere he does, except I do it by walking backward) I noted that we’ve gotten lucky twice in a row with the light. It was beautiful. All week long it had been overcast, foggy, and rainy, but yesterday the sun was out and it made all the pumpkins extra orange. I wanna go buy a pumpkin and carve it with an RSS icon on the face. Hey, it’s orange. And I’m boring. Hope your Sunday includes some pumpkin pie.

Oh, Thomas is loading photos up while I type. I just went back and two more images were there.

  1. I’m kinda surprised that there is so much Halloween stuff out already… then again it is October. I am rather unobservant too… šŸ˜€

On a different subject entirely, PodDev (the podcast I co-founded/co-host) recently interviewed Josh Jones, CJO (aka CEO) of Dreamhost. You’ve mentioned Dreamhost a few times here so I thought you might be interested. We talked about a lot including the downtime, upgrades to their network, etc.

  3. Last Saturday Shel drove me all around this area. I had never seen pumpkin farms before as Halloween isn’t such a big deal in Ireland.
Amazing to see queues of Mom,Pops and kids driving out to pick up their pumpkins.

  5. Robert,
As far as the boring thing goes, I have read this blog as your personal blog, and it has never failed to entertain and inform. Yes, lately you are not punching out 3 to 6 articles a day, but your other efforts are well worth the read.
According the Newsgator, you have 22,378 subscribers, that is a lot of bored people to looking at your stuff every day.

  7. More on the ridiculous side – I walked into my local supermarket yesterday to find Christmas products already on display! I don’t know whether you have the same in the US, but here in the UK Christmas gets earlier every year, and its just annoying! I like the event itself, not the stupid buildup at the beginning of October.

  9. DrumsNWhistles, I read your link. Nice layout. How about buying an old clunker and sending $8k to Darfur. I can guarantee you will get far greater mileage out of the money and just think of the chuckles you’ll get when you explain to folks why you are not driving the Mercedes to work. Just a thought.

  11. What’s up w/ your self-proclaimed status of ‘boring’? –Don’t mean to sound maternal but those folks like that Google guy who keep saying you’re boring can piss off. You seem to have an engaging, tech-savvy brain who talks with savvy folks — big wigs or not so big wig. And you share that with all of us who can’t even get close to that type of access. And you seem to have a healthy home life. There’s nothing boring about that in an age where marriages fail and homes break-up by the minute. I hope to say ‘hi’ in person at ConvergeSouth next week and hope that you admit by then that you’re not so damn boring after all.

  13. Russ Henry,

Thanks, but we send a lot of $$$$ that way through other channels…and the Mercedes is 14 years old with 200,000 miles on it. šŸ™‚

Time to upgrade just a teeny bit.

    Thanks for the visit!
