Jason Calacanis wants top spot in Twitter

Heheh, Jason wants the top spot in Twitter so he’s giving away a MacBook Air if he gets there. Of course, I’m helping him in his goal! I want him to be #1. Go sign up.

  1. This is an abuse of Twitter

Don’t play games with Web 2.0 – it defeats the purpose

He pulled this same bullshit two years ago by trying to steal Digg & Reddit top members

If you deserve to be #1 – you will be.

Don’t make an ego game out of it.

Surprises at you Scoble – for being so-o shallow!

  3. The beauty of Twitter is that it doesn’t matter if everyone follows Calacanis — that doesn’t effect anyone else’s experience.

Robert — don’t help Jason, offer something better! Let’s see a bidding war!

  5. I’m unfollowing Jason over this. What a vain twit. An abuse and manipulation of social media. Jason does not deserve to be first. He fills Twitter with inane plugs for his own stupid search website constantly, trying to get people to click on funny video like Kermit’s cover of “Hurt” to drive up his traffic. It’s SO manipulative and disgusting.

I’m happy to let YOU be number one, Scoble, because you work. “They work. harder. than. you.” remember that 1937 media guy? I agree. You do. You work, you produce, you slog around and work the beat and get the stories and they have substance, i.e. from Davos or from SWSX. Jason is trying merely to get people to click on Kermit videos.

Are you trying to do this out of some weird experiment of your own?

  7. Maybe he can Twitterify interview Mark Zombieberg, while wearing a dress and showing too much leg.

  11. Zacinak, your friend Jason is merely abusing Twitter to try to get himself up to the number one spot on social media in order to sell his damn search engine thingie Mahalo. It’s sickening. I do not WANT to be in “Jason Nation” it’s crass.

  13. It is because of stunts like this that Jason will always be a college basketball success story but will never make it to the NBA (unless you see a Jobs, Ellison, etc. trying to be a #1 in Twitter of course). He’s reached his ceiling.

    Lame.

  15. I think the more interesting question is how many followers will Jason retain once he gives away the Air?

It’s one thing to get people to sign up but getting them to stay is another trick.
