Lots of interesting posts caused by the Singularity Summit going on today.

I wish I were there, but we’re enjoying our Saturday before baby coming.

Anyone else think that the singularity is coming because of our RSS readers?

Oh, funny, Kevin Schofield (he works up at Microsoft Research) links to a report that subcutaneous RFID chips cause cancer.

So, doesn’t look good for chip implants coming anytime soon.

You know, one of my goals is to have my own personal “FooCamp” every single day of the rest of my life.

Looking at my link blog I’m already there. I have more than 4,000 smart people on my RSS feed that I get to listen to.

Add in my job where I get to have conversations every day.

I have a feeling next week is going to be a great week. Our new son is due. When will Milan arrive? Who knows but he’ll never know a world without feeds. Imagine that.

Patrick, who now is 13, will never know a world without Netscape (now Firefox).

Isn’t it an exciting time to be alive? The world’s smartest people write to you every day.

    Careful. I’m sure there was a time geeks thought they would never know a world without WordPerfect, Lotus 123, Ashton-Tate, Compuserve.. 😉

Robert, I missed this year’s Singularity event, due to previous commitment of the Data Sharing Summit (coverage, Entitled “Facebook Snubs Data Sharing Summit at: http://therealmccrea.wordpress.com/2007/09/09/facebook-snubs-data-sharing-summit/), but I was there for last year’s event. One of the things that really struck me in reading Kurzweil’s “The Singularity is Near” is thinking about the implications for my daughter, and how much the world may change in her lifetime. I wish you and your family all the best, as you await the arrival of your baby!!

  5. Much as I use Firefox, I hate it too for its ubiquity. Firefox isn’t as great as everyone [well, everyone who’s ignorant, which is a lot] touted it to be, but most plugins that help me link to the pages I use the most are developed for Firefox and not Opera or IE. Which means I HAVE to use Firefox or basically have to take the long route to do stuff. Hearing the latest flare over Firefox’s ad-blocking plugin kinda makes me glad somehow.

    Anyway, we are living in a very cool and generally golden age here, your children are very lucky to be born in this era.

  7. Please don’t call Firefox Netscape. SeaMonkey maybe, but not Firefox. The very idea that Firefox is even somewhat linked to Netscape makes me want to jump out my window. Luckily I live in a one-story house.
