Who has the coolest iPhone photo sharing app?

One reason why I leave my cell phone and email on my blog (they are +1-425-205-1921 and scobleizer@gmail.com) and hold meetups that are open to everyone is so I can meet cool people I would never have gotten to know otherwise. Tonight I met a DJ, Richard Savill, who works out of London, England. Not a geek, particularly. Not someone who shows up on Twitter or FriendFeed. But he wanted to see what a Photowalk was like, so I said “let’s go out and shoot London.”

He ended up giving me a great demo of a very cool iPhone app called Snap My Life.

It is nicer to use than Flickr on the iPhone. But what caught my ear? His excitement in talking about what it’s done for him. He also tells you how he found the app, which is always interesting for other startups who are trying to get adoption.

Startups: do you have customers like this who are rabid advocates of your service? Why haven’t you done a video of them like the one I did with Richard? Or, better yet, I’d love to hear from them.

I made this video as we were walking down Edgware Road in London. Later he showed me the app and showed me that his pictures automatically were tagged with location so his followers can see where we were taking pictures. Pretty cool and nice, simple, interface.

Have you seen a better iPhone app for photo sharing?

You can see Richard’s photos on his Snap My Life site.

I wonder what Ben McConnell or Jackie Huba would think of Richard? They wrote a book titled “Creating Customer Evangelists” and that’s exactly what Snap My Life did here. Congrats to them!

  3. It’s simple and yet seemingly oh so difficult. Give people something that does something that makes their life richer, that does this simply and intuitively, and, most importantly of all, does it in a way that doesn’t frustrate.

Avoid feature creep, avoid taking up too much of their time, that scarcest of resources, and avoid causing irritation and you find that people are hard-wired to talk about this thing that gives them pleasure.

  5. Yep that is a wonderful app. I’d have to say my fave so far for location based photo sharing is BrightKite! Snap a picture, attach it to an email and off you go!

I’ve found myself addicted to posting photos from different places i’ve been to, and it does indeed tag it with location information if you choose to.
From there many people have access to that photo, people in the area, people who are your friends, people from all over brightkite!

Give it a whirl, its a super app! I’m definitely a brightkite Customer Evangelists, i am very pleased with it so far and the effort the team are putting in!

  7. I think I’m an advocate of Brightkite, in much the same way you describe Richard. I’m passionate about the possibilities, and also the lovely combination of features that make it both better than Twitter and a great compliment to twitter.

The passion for the app/company is further fueled by the superior responsiveness of the developers to requests. If you mention @brady or @hiro on BrightKite, they’ll certainly read your message, and act on it if needed. So awesome, that I wrote a blog post about it:

  9. Not exactly simply a photo sharing tool, but brightkite makes it easy to take and share a pic tagged with your location. Others can Comment, etc. I find it a bit more social than say Flickr, which supports geo tagging but isn’t as interesting to use. The iPhone app is awesome btw!

  11. My favorite moment sharing app is Brightkite. It is location based which means you can see who has been there before, as well as photos people have posted there. It uses the GPS on the iPhone so it knows where you are and it is super easy to check in.

It really is a cool experience because you can see either just your area at varying degrees of distance, or the whole Brightkite user stream and see what is going on all over the world.
