Video bar keeps moving up

SmugMug just released HD video player that really works great here. While other photo sharing sites have added video, they have tiny little videos that only are allowed to be 90 seconds. And people wonder why SmugMug has hundreds of thousands of people paying real money for its services? Here you see why.

  1. smugmug will be getting my money soon. Flickr has lost its appeal to me. My quality photos are easily stolen.
Disappointed also that Flickr will be a MS company. Smugmug has sold me on there video services alone.

  3. Loved SmugMug and used to be a member, but I didn’t use it enough to justify the fee. When I get my G9 and learn to take better photos I may once again be worthy of the smug.

  5. How does the smugmug community feel about videos infiltrating their “premium” photo sharing service? Surprised to not hear major backlash similar to Flickr’s community.

And get that smug mug icon off of the users’ videos – how intrusive.

  7. Smuggler here…love the features, support and now HD video…not some youtube blurry video, but HD video in all it’s glory.

    Well worth the price.

  9. @ Jeff Chin, it seems to me that SmugMug isn’t as communal as Flickr. When you search from someone’s SmugMug gallery, it searches them only, not across all of SmugMug. So I’d think that there wouldn’t be cause for any backlash. In SmugMug it’s more about creating your own galleries that you control, but letting SmugMug worry about the technical details.

Agree with you on the video watermark, though. SmugMug’s appeal to me is in their subdued branding that lets me make the gallery mine.
