Social network portability. Single signon. Digital identity. Keeping personal info private. These are all important things that both users and developers are concerned about. Me too and so I called Kaliya Hamlin, aka “Identity Woman.”
She knows EVERYONE who is working on dataportability or identity and is one of the people who really helped OpenID happen.
So, listening to her on these issues is important and she certainly made me smarter and invited me to a raft of interesting events coming soon.
This was split up into four parts, because BlogTalkRadio’s Cinch service only lets me record for about eight minutes at a clip.
Sorry that I’m so loud compared to her, gotta figure out a better way to do phone interviews (I was using an iPhone in my car).
Part I (the first few seconds are silent, so wait for the recording to start at about 40 seconds into it, these are all audio-only MP3s). Part II. Part III. Part IV.
What did she teach me? What XRI is. That lets developers build features that will federate between social networks your email address, photos, and other personal identifying info. Right now it’s a real pain, because if you need to change something, like your email address, you’ve got to do it on all your services (and I’m on more than 20 so far).
We talked about the state of dataportability and what she’s seeing developers trying to work on and the events that she recommends, in particular these two:
I give you a front-row seat on the future. Focusing most of my efforts now on next-generation augmented reality and artificial intelligence, AKA "mixed reality."

BIO:
Scoble gives you a front-row seat on the future.
Literally. He had the first ride in the first Tesla. Siri was launched in his house. He's been the first to share all sorts of technologies and companies with you, from Flipboard to Pandora to Instagram.
Today he's focusing on mixed reality, AKA "next-generation augmented reality" which will include a new user interface for EVERYTHING in your life (IoT, Smart Cities, driverless cars, robots, drones, etc).
That's based on his view thanks to his past experience as futurist at Rackspace.
Best place to find Scoble? On his Facebook profile at https://www.facebook.com/RobertScoble
He has been a technology blogger since 2000, was one of five people who built Microsoft's Channel 9 video blog/community, worked at Fast Company Magazine running its TV efforts, and has been part of technology media businesses since 1993.

SPEAKER PITCH:
Apple and Facebook now have revealed their Augmented Reality strategies, which means your business needs one too. Rely on Robert Scoble, the world's top authority on AR, to bring to your conference what businesses should do next.
SPEECH ABSTRACT #1:
TITLE: The Fourth Transformation: What's next in mixed reality (AR and AI) and the future of technology?
Here's an example of this talk at Leade.rs in Paris in April, 2017: https://youtu.be/52_0JshgjXI
Why "the Fourth Transformation?"
Soon we will have phones and glasses that do full on augmented reality. Everything you look at will potentially be augmented. This world is coming in late 2017 with a new iPhone from Apple, amongst other products. Microsoft is betting everything on its HoloLens glasses that do mixed reality and the industry is spending many billions of dollars in R&D and funding new companies like Magic Leap.
This future will be the user interface for IoT, Smart Cities, autonomous cars, robots, drones, and your TV.
This is a big deal and Robert will take you through what mixed reality is and how it will change every business.
Learn more about Robert's speaking style and contact his agent at http://odemanagement.com/robert-scoble/Robert-Scoble.html
++++++++
SPEECH ABSTRACT #2:
"The Next Two Clicks of Moore's Law."
Over the next four years, or two clicks of Moore's Law, a ton about our technology world will change. Scoble will bring you the best from his travels visiting R&D labs, startups, and innovators around the world.
He views the world through his rose-colored-mixed-reality glasses, which will be the new user interface for self driving cars, Smart Cities, IoT, and many other things in our world.
He'll send you off with some lessons for companies both large and small.
++++++++
SPEECH ABSTRACT #3:
"Personalized Meaning: What is Augmented Reality For?"
As we enter a far more technological world where even cars drive themselves, I predict we'll see a blowback toward the analog, more authentic world.
What role does augmented reality play in both worlds?
Get Scoble's insight into where augmented reality is going, see tons of real-world demos, and understand what he means by 'personalized meaning.'

An interoperable OpenID platform with widespread adoption is going to happen sooner or later, the question is when.
I’ll take a listen to the interview later. Thanks for putting it up!
It seems to be beneficial for all the persons who have the interest on interoperable OpenID platform .The interview would be interesting .so one should go thru & listen to interview soon.

I’m seeing almost zero excitement around XRI in the wider developer community. This is despite XRI being added to the OpenID family of specifications nearly two years ago. The downside of XRI is that it requires its own DNS stack, separate from the DNS stack that exists at the moment – complete with new registrars, a new resolution mechanism and the need for everyone to buy themselves a new i-name (like a domain but much less widely useful at the moment). I just don’t see it taking off.

This issue of profile portability and single signon between social networks is huge and for those of us with multiple profiles out there, the ability to simultaneously uptdate them all will be much appreciated. Do you think ‘mEgo’ will factor in this race? This scenario will become more pressing as the generic social networks like Facebook become fragmented into smaller niche networks and the numbers of them grow.
We’re watching your space and our programmers are poised to integrate the new technology into our own niche social network for real estate investors. Thanks for the update.

I’ve an idea about the idea of a single web Presence. I read anything like it yet. This could be because it’s so stupid that everyone but me realises. It could be I just haven’t been reading the right places.
Anyway, it’s a combination of Desktop and Web working together.

Only the iNames implementation of XRI/XDI requires a global registrar (though it would be cool for a number of other services). The actual specification, which is in itself very powerful, is completely open and free. If you want to get a quick understanding of the power of XRI/XDI, I’ve got a 3 part series on it here: http://drstarcat.com/archives/tag/xrixdi

For recording calls, I used freeconferencecall.com
They have a record the call feature that is pretty solid and the service is free other than LD charges.
After the call, you can download it in .wav and convert as needed.
Pretty nice actually.
