No more goofing off

Astute watchers of Scoble’s temple of ego (cute site, by the way, that one of my readers built — it shows everything I do including Twitter, Flickr, Google Reader, and other sites) know that I’ve been goofing off. I haven’t been reading feeds much since early January. Been traveling and hanging out in Switzerland eating too much cheese.

But now we are coming back and the real work begins. On Wednesday Rocky and me are going to Seattle to visit some companies up there for our FastCompany.tv opening on March 3. Next week? Beverly Hills to visit MySpace. And, yeah, I’ll start reading feeds again, among other things. Anyway, today we’re traveling back to the states and will be back online late Monday, Pacific Time.

Got any questions to ask MySpace next week?

  1. Robert, of interest, FriendFeed will build that “temple of ego”, automatically. In fact, as you haven’t yet joined the service, I made you an “Imaginary friend”, which creates it.

Here’s what it looks like, with Blog + Google Reader + Twitter + Flickr, etc.

If you need an invite, I’ll send one your way.

  3. Robert, here’s a question for MySpace:

    What about a redesign?

That rumor was drifting around weeks ago, and I’d be curious to hear any of their comments.

  5. Heres a question for Myspace…why do they suck and steak stuff from Facebook?

I just don’t think that stealing other peoples ideas are right, and Myspace demonstrates that…

Have a good trip, none the less 🙂

  9. MySpace:

Would like to know the genesis of the idea for MySpace?

Did they predict the type of success they would have?

Are they considering starting their own Search Engines?

Why did they not buy YouTube?

Would they consider a merger with Yahoo?

How do they see themselves developing by the beginning of the next decade?

  11. Yeah, when’s the frickin Myspace redesign? I thought that guy who did vimeo.com were going to do it. I asked the UK guys last week and they said “redesign? you wish!”.

  15. Hmm, how about:
    1) Open ID plans
    2) Thoughts on if most social networking sites are walled gardens, and whether MySpace wants to change this.
    3) Their thoughts on their plans vs. current status of their competitors.
    4) Would be interesting to hear the social trends they can see from having a top down look at all their users.

  17. It would be nice to know the following about Myspace.

First a word of praise, I emailed them for the first time ever with the tech help question recently – they gave me an answer that actually solved my problem in one answer, the first time. Far exceeded my expectations. Why aren’t they leveraging the fact that they actually have customer service when Facebook and Digg don’t?

I’ve seen a lot of talk about the lack of monentization from ads in the past few weeks in social networks. What are their thoughts on this issue and the future of it?

When they delete spam accounts, why don’t they delete the associated spam invites that get sent out?

  19. @Robert: I’m one of the geeks behind Alertle and I saw you linked a link to it in your link blog. Since you are looking to get back to reading feeds, if you haven’t yet, how about trying Alertle.com out 🙂 It is perfect for reading a high-volume of feeds. Infact, on Alertle, you can go through ~1000 feeds within a few minutes with minimum use of the keyboard and the mouse ! (It has a unique feature called “Autoplay” which enables that).

    Here’s a newer demo: http://blog.alertle.com/?p=14
There is also a post on the blog on how it compares to Google Reader. This is why you can easily move to Alertle:
    – You can import your 600 (or so?) feeds via OPML.
    – You can then create a ‘feedpack’ called ‘Scoble’ and share all your feeds with others. Those who are interested in reading what feeds you are reading can simply subscribe to it.

You can read more in Alertle in the same time and can then post to your link blog via the ‘other’ feed reader 🙂

Its been 3 days since our launch and we do plan on adding features to share articles and comment on them from within Alertle.
