I just uploaded a ton of photos from Davos to my Flickr account. All shot with the Nikon D3 that Nikon lent me for a month. We also just had Shimon Peres on the live video on my Qik channel.

That’s really fascinating. I was there on holidays some years ago and I can still remember the place outside where you made a photograph of.
All the famous people there now, including you. Must be great!

Thanks for identifying who is in these Davos photos and what they are doing. It makes them so much more useful. With so many photos on Flickr lacking explanation, it is great to be able to figure out who these folks are and what they are doing and saying.
I remember my American Civilization professor saying many years ago that photos that are not identified are useless to historians. Thanks for helping me and the historians and the next generation to figure out what is going on there.

Cool pics… how do you like the D3 anyhow? What lens(es) are you using with it? I was curious about how to handle existing Nikon DSLR lenses with a full-frame model.

I am just blown away by the Qik feeds. The fact that you are also interviewing general delegates which gives us a taste of the breadth, and depth, of knowledge at Davos (not just the rock stars and politicians) is amazing.
I can’t get my head around the fact that I asked a question (jill – to ask why Emery Brown was at Davos) and you asked it. It’s..I’m speechless.
How funny that guy said ‘and I don’t know who YOU are’!

Well — thank God you just had the camera on loan. I thought you actually shelled out $5K for it, and had decided that you were no longer among the working class.
I assume it was like heaven, right?

Looked at the largest of many of your Flickr images. And the largest of the images (while nice) lacks the clarity of detail I’d want at that resolution. Wonder how much of that is the lens v. clean sensors, etc.
Final observation… I see the Fast Company logo has made it to at least one of your Qik channel uploads… I’m concluding you’re there as press…?

Charles, sorrz about that I fixed that.
Dick, I bought my own Canon 5D with the profits from our book when it was translated to Chinese.
Gerald, I am here as a blogger but, yeah, Fast Company is reaping the benefits of that.
bluvg I love the Nikon D3. It is the best SLR I have had my hands on. I only have a 50mm F1.4 lens. Oh, I take that back. I also have a 105 f2.5 lens that is about 30 years old but still works great with the D3.

Gerald — part of the clarity is I am sharing the JPG versions, not the raw ones. Also, I am shooting in very low light conditions, so am usually shooting at 6400 ISO. Really remarkable that I am getting good images at all without a flash. I will try to upload some images tomorrow shot for high resolution, not just to capture the scene.

Roberts,
these are very cool pictures. Make sure to get into the Google party and the geek diner. You can ask Paul Sagan (Akamai) or Sergei for an invite. Here are my Davos pics from 3 years (http://vassko.blogspot.com/2005_02_01_archive.html) ago when I was live video blogging the WEF, I am so jealous man. Say hi to the gang and by the way, every night the party is at the Piano Bar and this is very bloggable.

Robert,
Great photos.
I have a question… is there an online service for which your DON”T have an account? You seem to create an account with every service that comes into existence. Do you actually use them all or do you let some of them fall by the wayside if they end up being less than useful?
Just asking…

Not sure if you have been following the Facebook Friends for Sale app, but your market value is now over $100k. It is a very cool and addictive app, but wanted to send you this message as a heads-up on your rapid increase in price! We met at the blog summit back in 2004 in Seattle that Toby Bloomberg put on with the AMA. I hope all is well. I now own you in this app and it is tought to keep you as you are very popular – kind of crazy, but cool! -Dave

@10. As they always say: “It’s not the camera, it’s the photographer”. There is no difference between these photos and the ones taken with the 5D…amateurish. You could have done just as well with a point and shoot.
(and before you ask, I’m not foolish enough to put my photos out on Flickr.)
