“We’re working on a lot of interesting things,” Chad Hurley, one of the co-founders of YouTube told me yesterday when I met him and Steve Chen on the show floor and showed them Qik’s ability to stream video live from a cell phone (something that YouTube can’t do). Why were they at CES? To check out the new 150-inch Panasonic plasma. I tried to invite myself over to their house to watch the Super Bowl.

See if they’re working on increasing the resolution/compressions of their damned videos. I thought for sure one of the first things Google would do with YT would be to increase the video quality. It’s HORRIBLE. It’s a shame YT won the online video fight a year ago because nearly all the other sites offer so much better quality.

Hmmm. Do I want to watch a bunch of nimrods streaming live crap from their cell phones? Not. There’s already sites that provide you with your own live “channel.” I think an ant farm is more interesting.

YouTube will have to utilize ON2 Technologies VP6-s for HD quality video and look for a new codec from ON2 called VP8…will change the video game for PC’s, TV’s and mobile devices.
