ScobleShow heads to London and Paris

We’re taking the ScobleShow on the road, to London and Paris starting December 6th. We’ll be in London December 6-9, then in Paris for the LeWeb3 conference (which is selling fast and furious — it’s amazing that they have more than 1,000 attendees already).

To get things rolling right Hugh Macleod is throwing us a geek dinner in London on the evening of December 7th. Through some weird coincidence, Dave Winer is going to be there too. You’re welcome, but space is very tight, so let us know. I have 10 spots to give away, leave a comment here if you’d like to come. Hosting us will be cool people from the BBC and Microsoft.

We’ll also do a photowalk. Gotta think about when/where to do that. Any ideas?

Finally, if you’re an entrepreneur and you’d like to meet us in London or Paris, please drop me a note as well and we’ll get you onto the schedule.

Oh, and Milan and Maryam are coming too. If we can get Milan’s passport in time.

UPDATE: The photowalk will start at 9:30 p.m. after dinner — we can take unlimited participants in that — see Hugh’s post for more details.

  1. If you’re doing a photowalk in London it should be somewhere that is unique to London, a little bit off the beaten track (away from tourists), and where you can experience London in all its glory.

Hence, I vote Primrose Hill or Greenwich park.

    Here’s a map.

  3. Jamie: sounds fun, but we’re staying near the Tower of London so it’d be fun to do a Photowalk between the geek dinner’s location and the Tower of London someplace. That way we don’t have to take a lot of cabs all over the city.

  5. For a photowalk, the path on the south side of the Tames from westminster to the Tate modern gallery is a must for biggest London spots like London eye or saint paul cathedral. A bit touristic but really nice.

  7. Oh – and we (Resolver Systems) are about to launch the public beta of our ‘Excel Beater’ (aimed at power users and geeks!) which I would be happy to show you. 🙂

  9. Let me second my colleague Michael’s comment above; we’re launching the public beta of Resolver One – a mash-up of a spreadsheet with a software development tool – just before you arrive, and it would be great to meet up.

For a flavour of what we’re all about, we have a screencast here: http://www.resolversystems.com/screencasts/web-app-in-10-mins – and we did another one with Jon Udell, which he posted here: http://blog.jonudell.net/2007/09/27/first-look-at-resolver-an-ironpython-based-spreadsheet/

  15. Robert – look fwd to seeing you. Photowalk wise we should hit the South Bank area of the Thames. Lively on a friday and some great photography of the London Eye, Tate Gallery, GLC building, Gherkin, National Film Theatre and more.

  17. Hi Robert. I’d love to join the photowalk if possible. Can you please clarify the time and location. Hugh’s blog says 9:30 (the implication is after dinner, and thus PM) but your post says 9 AM.

  19. Is there space for a big German guy who’s just moved to the UK? I even had Radio Userland installed once! Come on! I qualify! No?

  21. Mr. Scoble – I’ll be coming back through London that day (from Dubai). Wonder if I could nab one of the remaining invites? Will need to modify my plans a bit if there’s still room. Sounds like a great time and FINALLY might get to meet face to face. ~Gerald, Tulsa

  23. I see London. I see France. I see Scoble’s underpants.
Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. I saw this post on dinners in London and gay Paree, and I felt compelled to indulge in some juvenile humor. Probably not the best way for me to introduce myself to this community of tech geek power players. I’ll prepare myself for a virtual tarring and feathering…

  27. Heh…it’s funny that the startups that wanted to be considered for LeWeb were *required* to buy at least one ticket to the conference in advance. Even if you did not pass the ‘reviews’ and got into the final list. Oh, and they didn’t notify those who didn’t pass, stating that it’s “standard procedure”. Bad manners, I would say.

  29. Hi Robert
Just a quick note to see if there’s any chance to meet while you’re in London. I emailed your hotmail account last week – my company’s product ikordo helps you to schedule all kinds of collaboration, like a virtual assistant.

    More info in my email.
