Watching NewTeeVee conference on Mogulus

Mogulus is a new streaming video network which has a ton of cool new features (uses multiple cameras and isn’t grainy like Ustream or Justin.tv). One problem, though, it’s been an unsatisfactory performance on my machine. It takes a TON of processor cycles. I’m getting lots of skips, especially when I use Google Reader on my XP box running Firefox.

But it’s pretty interesting to watch. The chat looks OK, but Kyte.tv’s chat is a lot nicer to look at.

I like this trend of not having to go to conferences, though. I’ll be at NewTeeVee this afternoon. See you then!

    XP? Firefox?

    I thought a technologist like yourself would use at least Vista or OS X.

    I, for one, don’t understand people’s reluctance to move onto new things. People are too set in their ways when it comes to change.

    I look forward to new operating systems with glee. I actually enjoy figuring out how new things work.

    Robert, you should try Opera. Once you actually take the time to learn its intracacies, all others browsers are just so dated. Try it. Learn it. You’ll thank yourself.

    When I learned Opera back in 2000, it instantly made me more productive. Some sites don’t work well with Opera, but that’s not Opera’s fault. It’s the site. Opera is by far the most standards compliant browser out there after probably Konqueror (remember Mac fanbois, KHTML in Safari was invented by the KDE team, not Apple).

    I like the grid feature on the opening page tho ..

  9. I’m not that big a fan. Seems wayyyy too busy and confusing.

    Its flashy, but I’m not sure practical. I don’t get their UI?

    It looks grainy to me just like the other services.

  11. Joost, Hulu, Kyte, Utterz, Ustream… Man, video is HAWT! Love it.

    Thanks for keeping us third world countries (well, Belgium) up to date!

    Btw, works fine in FF/XP on my work comp. And I’m actually rendering flash video right now 😉

  13. So far, I like blip.tv the best. The video quality is pretty good and the embedded player that you can place on your site is “lighter” than the one Kyte TV provides. And, as far as I understand, there is no time limit on a video. I wish though that when going to another page on their site and then going back to their home page it wouldn’t just start playing the video at the top of the page over again. Have you seen the Video Blog “Beach Walks with Rox” ? Kinda cool. Hawaii looks like a great place to live (if you can afford it). 🙂
