BIO:
Scoble gives you a front-row seat on the future.
Literally. He had the first ride in the first Tesla. Siri was launched in his house. He's been the first to share all sorts of technologies and companies with you, from Flipboard to Pandora to Instagram.
Today he's focusing on mixed reality, AKA "next-generation augmented reality" which will include a new user interface for EVERYTHING in your life (IoT, Smart Cities, driverless cars, robots, drones, etc).
That's based on his view thanks to his past experience as futurist at Rackspace.
Best place to find Scoble? On his Facebook profile at https://www.facebook.com/RobertScoble
He has been a technology blogger since 2000, was one of five people who built Microsoft's Channel 9 video blog/community, worked at Fast Company Magazine running its TV efforts, and has been part of technology media businesses since 1993.

SPEAKER PITCH:
Apple and Facebook now have revealed their Augmented Reality strategies, which means your business needs one too. Rely on Robert Scoble, the world's top authority on AR, to bring to your conference what businesses should do next.
SPEECH ABSTRACT #1:
TITLE: The Fourth Transformation: What's next in mixed reality (AR and AI) and the future of technology?
Here's an example of this talk at Leade.rs in Paris in April, 2017: https://youtu.be/52_0JshgjXI
Why "the Fourth Transformation?"
Soon we will have phones and glasses that do full on augmented reality. Everything you look at will potentially be augmented. This world is coming in late 2017 with a new iPhone from Apple, amongst other products. Microsoft is betting everything on its HoloLens glasses that do mixed reality and the industry is spending many billions of dollars in R&D and funding new companies like Magic Leap.
This future will be the user interface for IoT, Smart Cities, autonomous cars, robots, drones, and your TV.
This is a big deal and Robert will take you through what mixed reality is and how it will change every business.

SPEECH ABSTRACT #2:
"The Next Two Clicks of Moore's Law."
Over the next four years, or two clicks of Moore's Law, a ton about our technology world will change. Scoble will bring you the best from his travels visiting R&D labs, startups, and innovators around the world.
He views the world through his rose-colored-mixed-reality glasses, which will be the new user interface for self driving cars, Smart Cities, IoT, and many other things in our world.
He'll send you off with some lessons for companies both large and small.
++++++++
SPEECH ABSTRACT #3:
"Personalized Meaning: What is Augmented Reality For?"
As we enter a far more technological world where even cars drive themselves, I predict we'll see a blowback toward the analog, more authentic world.
What role does augmented reality play in both worlds?
Get Scoble's insight into where augmented reality is going, see tons of real-world demos, and understand what he means by 'personalized meaning.'

I’m probably going to get an eStarling for that very reason. Saves getting prints, and you can set it for group RSS feeds if needed.

Robert – I would be very interested to hear what Dave’s using for his Mac / Flickr interaction – I have yet to find a Mac equivalent of the awesome Slickr for Windows…. so please, Dave, enlighten us!
And Richard – I would tread VERY carefully on the eStarling front – just google “estarling reviews” and you’ll see what I mean – great idea but sorely lacking in execution.

I’m considering getting a Momento WiFiframe which does just that and also allows you to email pics directly to the frame. It will also act as a Windows SideShow display. http://www.momentolive.com/

Please tell me Dave isn’t using that box *just* for that? The mini is pretty low-power, but even so to effectively use it as a photo frame is a huge waste of energy.

Instead of an AppleTV, I have a Mac Mini connected to my TV. I’m using Elgato’s EyeTV 200 as a DVR, and with the latest software I can also watch recordings from my other computers. I only have an older G4 mini which doesn’t support Front Row, but a new x86 mini should be even better than an AppleTV.

Ian: he uses it for a LOT more than that. But I love the Flickr capabilities. Showing photos on my big screen during family events is the most popular thing I do with my Apple TV.

@Robert: Stay tuned, there are ‘Flickr boxes’ coming with support for all of the rest of us, too. I’ll ping some of the NDA’d execs we’re dealing with to see if they wanna leak some info to you. π

Sounds nice…
Here is a triple-display setup i built with an appleTV behind it.
I would love to find a way to tie in photostreams into it — both from flickr and from live cameras around the world. It would be nice to select a live (or pseudo-live) shot from a downtown street in madrid one day and some coastal shot from south america the next.
a simple menu hack and web-service should do the trick. Anyone out there care to tackle it?

I use a tool in the OPML Editor called FlickrRivr.
Bring your Mac Mini over and I’ll install it for you, or you can look it up on Google and try installing it yourself. It’s really not that hard. It’s very much like Radio (which you used to run).
Give me a call…

Good call on Bi-Rite. Flavors like malted vanilla and salted caramel make it the best ice cream in SF – without question. One of the keys to their sucess is that they use Straus Organic cream.
A few other places that use Strauss are Fairfax Scoop up in Fairfax (a bit of a drive from HMB) and Harmony Yogurt in San Carlos (a little closer). Both are excellent. Fairfax Scoop is like bi-rite: limited flavors and always a line. Harmony just has 1 flavor (natural) and it is like, but slightly better than, Fraiche in Palo Alto.
You might also want to try Straus’s own flavors. More and more supermarkets are stocking it. As you can tell, I like ice cream.

If you like organic ice cream and interesting flavors, try Tara’s Organic – they deliver since most of y’all probably don’t live in Santa Fe π Flavors include things like White Pepper Chocolate Chip, Blueberry Mint, Egg Nog, Orange Cashew and Green Chile Pistachio. I still like the Strauss stuff, but you can’t beat getting it fresh in-town.
