Smart dudes. 45 minutes. Talking about Sun Microsystems’ ZFS. File storage system that’s used on a ton of datacenter computers and is rumored to be used in a future version of OSX.
You know, I hope you are enjoying these conversations as much as I do. Getting to talk with some of the industry’s smartest people just is such a privilege. I pinch myself every day.
What do we discuss here? Storage trends, stories about how ZFS came about, data center trends they are seeing, and a lot more.

Watching now. Please tell me Apple, Leopard and ZFS collide in here somewhere… You DID ask… right?

Do you have any plans to provide transcripts for any of these? Or if you do already, publicise the link a bit more.
I have not been able to follow any of these conversations you’ve posted up since probably the start. It’s lessened the value of your work a great deal.

This was a really interesting video.
Due to the recent OOXML news I’ve got more and more interested in file formats, so the way those files are stored seems like a natural extension for me.
I’m not saying I’d ever work on developing filesystems, but the information in this video was enlightening. I barely knew anything about ZFS before I saw this.

Funny thing, my Relatives are being laid off by Sun. They were asked to train their replacements somewhere in South America. Fuck Sun, they SUCK!

Very good interview. I suggest that you include the interviewees names in the web site too (even though the onscreen credits were well timed). This would make it easier to re-reference after one viewing and even to search. You had good questions that were clearly worthy of their very smart subjects.
