What’s up with the picture on the last post?

That’s Kevin. He’s one of the first investors in Facebook. He isn’t lame.

I just wanted to put his picture on my blog because it seems that everyone is talking about Facebook lately. It came up several times today in the session I moderated at the Virtual Goods Summit. More on that later, though. Gotta go Photowalking first.

  1. Oh, and Kevin. The first profile on FB starts with id 100004. Yeah, somebody noticed those first 100k are actually not there. I cloned that “feature” on our SN site today 😉

  11. If you look at MySpace, you will see their autoincrement skipped tens and hundreds of thousands of numbers “accidentally” during their rise before the newscorp aquisition.

    So it’s not exactly uncommon. These sites usually have little to no traffic, then boom, 2 years after launching they suddenly jump up tremendously. Yeah, I’m making alexa bots too.

  13. And just in case you were wondering. The 100004 isn’t a guid or a random number it’s autoincremental. 100005, 100006, 100007….10000000 exist if the profile has not been deleted. Working in search you know these things. Our new search engine sees all. ALL! I almost feel like an unknown version of Google.
