Want to see how the Drobo works? That’s the storage device we’re using to hold the ScobleShow. We’ve uploaded a demo of the Drobo (also embedded here), and an interview with the founder.

  3. I’m so sad these are not out in Australia, it seems like THE storage solution for photos n stuff at home… and this is comming from a long time sys admin / storage guy ! It’s just so simple… The only thing taht’s not really clear is what happens once you really fill it up … what then ?

  5. He lost me at “USB 2.0”. I’m willing to settle for Firewire 800, but what I really want is eSATA. If its got four drives, it should have more than enough BW to keep eSATA saturated, but even Firewire 400 is vastly superior to USB 2.0 in real world use.

    They get a thumbs up for using a phono style power plug, but it would be even better if they could integrate the power supply with the unit.

    Looks like a nice device and definately fills a niche… but as a technomad who needs to travel with HD video, USB 2 keeps me from buying a drobo.

  14. An amazing product, but won’t be Windows Home Server the toughtest competition? And it seems that the price for a basic machine + WHS license will be lower than Drobo.

    I’ll go for WHS.
