Lots of interesting technologists on ScobleShow

In the past week I put up some interesting videos. The short versions are edited only-the-highlights short videos for those who don’t have enough time to watch the long versions.

None of these companies pay to be on ScobleShow thanks to a generous sponsorship from Seagate, my favorite storage company.

  1. Joel Spolsky (famous dev blogger). Short. Interview.
  2. Mitchell Baker (she runs Mozilla Foundation, makers of Firefox browser). Short. Interview.
  3. JamGlue (cool music mashup service). Short. Interview. Demo.
  4. SmartSheet (useful online spreadsheet service). Interview. Demo.
  5. Seapine (software dev process software). Short. Interview. Demo.
  6. TeamDirection (project management software). Short. Interview/Demo.
  7. MixPo (cool widget that lets you build stories with video, photo, and audio). Short. Interview/demo.
  8. Smilebox (cool greeting-card like service). Short. Interview. Demo.

  1. Robert persists in his delusion that the short versions are cheating the viewer of the true greatness of the long versions. I say, thank you, thank you for Editor’s Choice. When I was at the Improv in NY back around the time that Apple was founded, one of the MCs would slam some of the acts with this intro: “Our next comic writes everything he does and does everything he writes.” Ediing is a good thing.

  3. Michael: glad you’re happy!

My traffic hasn’t gone way up, though, so the promise you guys made me for doing short videos hasn’t been delivered.

Also, one guy is making even LONGER videos than I am. Justin.TV, who is wearing a camera 24-hours-a-day. He passed me in traffic in one week of wearing that camera, which proves to me that I was right: longer videos are the way to go!

  4. Not to mention that he got on the Today show, on the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle, and I’m sure will be on lots of other TV shows in the next two weeks.

    Short videos? Bah!

  7. It’s not the same concept, it’s the Truman Showish voyeur drumble. And this is just the starting phase, it too will pass, people get bored easy, and move onto the next new new thing.

  9. Joel’s was just a rehash of his blog. He’s more genuine when he posts (well, he hasn’t posted a good one for a few months now either).

That interview was boring as hell. Suggestions : I think an interview Gabe should be good if the fun questions are asked : ask him to show you what he really tracks daily.

  11. Splitting the shows up into smaller pieces is a good idea. Now I can set aside smaller, more managable, chunks of time to digest them.
In my opinion doing your short summary of the shows on your blog here doesn’t do them justice though, because I would watch none of them based on what you’ve written above. I am however going to watch the two featuring Mitchell Baker after visiting scobleshow.com, which has much better information in terms of what each video contains.
It’s all just my opinion of course.

  15. Hi Robert

You can’t please everyone. I personally like the long interviews. I love listening to what these people have to say. I am learning a lot of things watching your interviews i probably watch 80% of them all so far. Not bad for 2 weeks.

    Keep up the good work.

PS: Would be good if you could get to speak to more developers at a company rather than the ceo… Takes away some of the smoke and mirrors πŸ™‚
