Some fun videos on ScobleShow today. First, the geeky “Sister” behind the Vatican’s Website. She breaks all sorts of “geek stereotypes” in my head. We don’t know the OS that God uses, but the Vatican uses Linux, she reveals. This was a little conversation right after her talk at LIFT. She’s an interesting person because she comes at technology from a much more spiritual/faith-based perspective than most of the geeks I hang around with do. At about 20 minutes into this interview she talks about the tools and technology that the Vatican uses.
Oh, and if that’s not geeky enough, check out Maryam’s interview of Nicole Simon, one of Germany’s best-known tech bloggers. Both from the floor of the LIFT conference. You can read Nicole’s blog here, she shows up at many conferences around the world and does excellent podcast interviews of speakers who are coming to them too.

I love this interview Robert – it is so fascinating to get the perspective of someone who tries to tie in the academic aspects of community back into mind, body and soul.
It has prompted me to ask about the loosely coupled type mash up connections we are creating and if they are indeed healthy.

It seems that YouTube is the first generation relying on “home videos”… we have just launched a new internet show, myskidmarks you can see it on revver (www.myskidmarks.com)… the problem and the challange of the internet is how do you create market awareness for new shows? is it totally happend stance or is there a way to “make it happen”?

great interview… loved the way Sister Judith Zoebelein handled the questions… but honestly, inspite its millions of daily hits, the vatican site is one of the ‘uncoolest’ in terms of design and usability…

So what? The NSA, the military, and many other U.S. government agencies use Linux. What does this prove? Nothing ,except that it wants to use a flexible and secure OS. Nothing more. It has absolutely nothing to do with ideology.
The Vatican uses Linux. I as a Catholic could care less what operating system they use.

Sister Judith, technically speaking, is a religious sister, not a nun. A nun is a female monk, who lives in a monastery, e.g. Mother Angelica, and does not leave the grounds and leads a life of prayer. A religious sister has a more active ministry and can travel and work outside her convent, while still leading a prayerful life.

I went to the support site wanting to make a contribution to such an iconic institution, then i pause and asked myself this question. Am I really supporting Notre Dame or am I supporting Hipocracy? You see, the christian or may I say the catholic church bible, elaborately claim to preach about the teaching of our saviour, one of the most important being “loving our neighbors, our enermy as ourselves”. I came to realize that Notre Dame instead of perpetuating this core and fundamental teaching of our Saviour, they rather perpetuate hatred and segregation. By this I am refering to some of the notre dame blind and hipocratic abortion activists and their unfair reaction and insult to president Obama. I ask notre dame and all those who sympathize with them this questions;What is the greatest teaching of our Lord that the catholic culture will really love to perpetuate?Is it right or wrong to do as our Lord wants us to do?My ultimate question being;If Jesus christ were to literally and physically be present at notre dame, will he refuse the recognition that most did not want Obama to get?Jesus embraced the sinners, dine with them, and showed them unconditional love.There are scores of clergymen in the catholic church that ause young children everyday. If these activists which to do Christ work, they should be more vocal about this issue.
