Today at the Tech

I was over at the Tech Museum today. I love that place and it was packed. I shot a product announcement video there that’ll come up on Tuesday morning at 4 a.m.

We don’t think too many people figured out what was going on. But, I love doing product annoucements like this. No makeup. No lights. No special camera crew. Just shoot it YouTube style.

The announcement is one that the major gadget sites will be interested in (if they can forget that I was crapping up their weekend). And it’s something you’ll want to see on video to understand what it looks like. ASCII text isn’t going to do it.

Right now I’m over at Ryanne Hodson’s house. She’s editing videos, I’m writing descriptions. Her cats are playing. Just like they do on her videoblog. So cute.

  1. Um, Robert, y’know when people want to have positive relations with other outlets, they usually don’t go flying off the handle, then expect their future content (whether great or not) to be made public via their sites. I’m not saying Gizmodo or Engadget are going to blacklist you, but I’d think unless you break the second coming of Christ, you’re going to be pretty overlooked.

  3. Randall – If Engadget can’t stand criticism that’s their problem. But if they deliberately exclude content from another blogger who expresses the opinion that big blogs should link back as well, then Engadget will loose at least one long-time reader.

  5. I’ve seen bloggers poo-poo writing about their pets, using the phrase “blogging the cat” to be the blogging equivalent of “jumping the shark,” but I’d much rather see video of cats being adorable than pointless navelgazing industry speculation that those same bloggers engage in.

  7. Randall: honestly? I can only remember one time getting linked to by engadget since leaving Microsoft and that was an interview that they were involved in (I doubt they would have linked to it if they weren’t in the room).

So, the end result of this is Engadget is pissed at me. I wasn’t getting links before, and I doubt I will get links after.

For the record, though, I continue linking to engadget. Twice more today on my link blog alone.

  9. Weren’t you crapping on your OWN weekend? The “other tech sites” didn’t give a sh1t about you before… I’m sure this weekend just put a smile on their face and made them laugh at you.
