Look at this chart from Google Finance about Apple, Inc.
Now, click on 1M. Yeah, there it is, the iPhone distortion bump.
By the way, I love Google’s use of Flash and AJAX. The chart even works with the middle roller on my mouse (oh, sorry, my Apple mouse doesn’t do that). Zoooooooom in. Zooooooooom out. All with a flick of the wheel.
What finance site do you like most, and why? How does it compare to Google Finance?
Hey Robert,
It’s “Ajax”, not “AJAX”… Hahahahahaha
Come on, I thought you were a geek… 😀

That’s not AJAX on the Google Finance site. It’s good old fashioned Flash. Not that you can tell with an Apple mouse… can’t right click and find out if it’s flash or not 😉
That said, Google Finance still seems to be the best finance site around. It’s nice to see the correlation between news stories and stock behavior.

Funny how many postings Roberto makes some sort of mention of Apple (typically something derogatory). I sense a wee-bit ‘o envy. Is that typical of most ex-Microsoft staffers? Is there some feeling of inadequacy? I can understand why, just curious.

@4 update. The Apple Mighty Mouse has a right click. As for the classic Apple Mouse, as Alan Kay used to say, “It’s always had three buttons. It’s just that two of them are on the keyboard.” (option-click is the equivalent of right-click). 😉

I tend to use Yahoo finance more, but both YFinance and GFinance have some compelling features.. Yahoo’s new charts (beta) are also very cool. They have real-time streaming quotes (which I heard Google was gonna ad but has yet to). Google’s Portfolio tracking tools are very minimal.. Once they get better portfolio tracking and more stats/analytics, I will most likely use Google more often.

I still use Yahoo! Finance, probably mostly out of habit. But I sometimes like to see read the Robert Kiyosaki and Suze Orman columns that pop up in there.

“Is that typical of most ex-Microsoft staffers?”
Robert is not an “ex-Microsoft” employee. He’s just biding his time to return to the mothership when there’s a more lucrative opportunity. That’s why he still disses MSFT rivals like Apple and continues to heap praise on even the most hopeless MSFT “innovations.”

Yahoo doesn’t have real-time streaming quotes do they??
I was under the impression from Google’s recent announcement about this, that none of the big free finance sites offered real-time quotes.
Anyone know?

As for Microsoft? Did you read what I wrote about Zune? Obviously not.

Robert, you can buy as much Apple prodcuts as you can afford but saying something against Apple makes you a Microsoft man through and through. Apparently Apple are perfect and no matter what they do they’re the best damn company on the planet!

Umm, so the iPhone is announced for more than a week, and then financial results cause a fall-off. This is attributed to the iPhone.
Scoble, you know less about finance then you know about Apple, and that’s saying a lot.

And, yet, for some absurd reason, you still advocate .Net for the iPhone? Do you even have the slightly clue about what you write about or do you just go, “Rah, rah, rah … reality can’t stop me!”

Google, by the way, is far behind Yahoo’s feature set. It’s UI is pleasing if you want to play around with your mouse wheel, but unsatisfying if you actually want to use it.

Hi Robert,
I hadn’t compared Google and Microsoft on that graph because I just wanted to compare existing player, though I would agree that Google is pretty likely to jump in the phone arena.
Also, I agree it is old but I did it on 10th and wanted to see instant impact on the market. However, there has been a drop after that because of a closer look at the iPhone and also the financial results.

Actually you’re wrong, AJAX is an acronym hence why it’s all-caps (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML)
I use Yahoo! Finance since it covers more stocks than Google does and it has more information… the only thing useful on Google Finance is the news relation to timeline feature.

Google finance is by far the best app for Android and I wish I had it for my new iPhone 3Gs but I don't but I have a whole lot more. My G1 has been ok but so many things about it drive me crazy and I had to go back the iPhone. Finally, with all the iPhone users out there it is only a matter of time before Google releases an iPhone version.
