I don’t get Marc Canter’s product

I wanna plug Marc Canter’s product. But I don’t get it. So, Marc, when we gonna meet up and get you on the ScobleShow so I can figure it out?

Oh, and about that controversy thing? It only works if you keep your job. Or get a new one. Or you can monetize your Digg traffic after everyone comes to read about why you got fired.

Me? I’m just trying to figure out the hard questions to ask.

  1. Why so many conferences about blogging and a lot of web stuff? Isn’t the beauty of the web cross-geographical and sometimed anonymity(sp)? I think that this just points out all the technology in the world cannot solve our need to socialize. Just like internet commerce did not replace brick and mortar retail, it just added to it. People love to shop and touch…

  3. As for Marc’s product, seems like another “me too” social networking app. I, too, would be interested in how his product is different than the slew of other types of social networking tools out there.

  5. Marc’s product, PeopleAggregator, is a white label, open standards social networking platform. Organizations use it to create their own social networking sites and all of those sites are interoperable. That’s my understanding of it and I think it’s a great idea. Interviewing Marc on the show would also be a very good idea.

  7. Robert,
    What may help, is looking over the various players in the white label Social Net market. I’m sure there’s more companies and products than what I’m listing here, but this should give you an idea of what’s happening in this ‘space.’

    * CommunityServer.com
    * CollectiveX.com
    * CrowdFactory.com
    * FiveAcross.com
    * KickApps.com
    * Me.com
    * PeopleAggregator.com
    * PHPfox.com
    * SelectMinds.com
    * SmallWorldLabs.com
    * SocialPlatform.com
    * SpartaSocialNetworks.com
    * Wetpaint.com

    Each offers some form of social net solution, and which product/service is best really depends on what kind of social net one wishes to launch, what features they need, and if they want to manage it or have managed services.

    Another one to add to the list, is my own platform – which is currently powering ArtistServer.com. You can check it out at http://SocialNetworkServer.com – I’m currently a one person team… looking to grow.

    I hope all is well,
