Amazon names Naked Conversations one of top 10 books of 2006

Wow.

Just got back from a great day in Cardiff and got an email from Phil Torrone that said “congrats.”

Turns out Amazon’s editors just named Naked Conversations to its Best Books of 2006 list in computers/internet category.

  1. Yeah it must have made it big, because I was walking around my local library (Auckland Central, NZ) and it was positioned in pride of place on the display shelf at the end of an aisle…

Caught my attention immediately, I was amazed that such a current book was in the library… So I’m reading it now!

Sorry though, I suppose that means no royalties…

  2. I left this comment on Shel’s blog too:

“…What’s really interesting is the other 9 books are really ‘how to’ books related to web user experience, web development, photography and other technical type books.

Naked Conversations is the only book focused on communication changes.”

  5. Congratulations Robert! Plus, “The world is Flat” by Thomas Friedman is no.2 in the Amazon list of 50 Amazon best-sellers for 2006. I think “Naked Conversations” and “The world is flat” are complimentary and prove the same point!

  7. It appears that people at Amazon have lost their minds. Or, more likely, those who compiled the list did not read many tech oriented books this year and just picked something at random. The selection cannot be about talent because you are an utterly pedestrian writer, Robert.

  9. Congratulations again on the book,

Hey I couldn’t help noticing on the news this morining that Wales has had it’s first Tornado in years . . . . . . coincidence or was the Valley boy’s visit to the Valleys just to atmospherically disturbing?

  11. Congratulation! I’ll have to find time to go to the book store to look for your book. Do you want me to list your book on your bio section?

  13. Bess, if you want, thanks!

16 good, one bad. Not too shabby. Podesta gives me an idea, though. Maybe I should write a blog while walking around town. On Sunday I interviewed Robert Gale while walking around Newport. “Pedestrian video.” Heheh.
