If you search Google for “richards tirade” you’ll find my blog. I have a feeling they aren’t looking for me, though. I think they are looking for news about Michael Richards’ racist tirade instead. The gossip blogs are going NUTS about it. UPDATE: I fixed Richard’s name, sorry for getting that wrong.
How did I know this? It showed up on my WordPress search referer page.
Michael Richards. Keith is of course a Rolling Stone. It was pretty sad to see Kramer lose it like that. he must be a troubled man.

That’s what I love about the net, we have created several ways for the information to come to us! 🙂
Also interesting to read is this story on how an FYE manager replied to a customer “You’re just one person. It won’t make a difference.”, he went and published his story in YouTube (why not a blog??!?!). This came to me via the sutori’s blog. Really cool to find their project works as a way to give a voice to customers. Hands-up for this one, it shows we have found a way to make a difference!

Did anyone watch Michael apologize on the David Letterman show last night? It was really awkward. Jerry Seinfeld was the guest and they have Michael come in via satellite. The audience kept chuckling periodically, not quite sure if he was going to explode and “make with the funny” instead of being serious. It was uncomfortable to watch.

Google is an interesting beast.
My blog shows up for the heisman vote.com, as people don’t know the difference between a location field and a search field, and even more fun, at one point it was #1 for “how to make a bomb out of household appliances”.
That one was particularly good.
Also, when I first started the site, I got a tremendous amount of referrals from geeks looking for “Seven of Nine” from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine on Google Images.
it’s often fun to find the keyword, and then what triggered it by piecing keywords together.

There you have it everyone, Scoble’s marketing genius at work. Did he make a booboo? No, it was a carefully crafted “sleep deprivation error.” You see, his blog was already showing up for searches under “richards tirade,” but now it’ll show up for searches on Keith Richards too. More traffic to the Scobelizer. Genius I tell ya, genius!

Oh, man, that’s hilarious. I remember when Keith Richards was such a big star on Seinfeld, sliding through the door in his leather pants. Remember the episode when Mick Jagger and Keith were both fighting over the same girl, and Newman whispered poetry in Keith’s ear so he could win her away, because Newman wanted to date Elaine, Jagger’s old girlfriend?
Sorry, Robert, but who could resist? 🙂

Many bloggers seem to like to make posts along these lines. I’ve seen the, “I can’t believe someone found my by searching x, y, or z on google, that’s not what I write about at all.” post fairly often.
But with that very post that mentions the terms that they don’t actually blog about, they are just making it more likely for more people to erronesouly find their blog when that post is indexed in search engines and people search for those very terms.
[Do people do this because they know that by mentioning hot/controversial topics in a new post they will just get more of that misguided traffic, even if it isn’t somthing they ever blog about?]

The key terms returned the highest page value in the indexes.. and thus top spot for your page…

Matt: weirder things have happened. But, I don’t like people who are anonymous and don’t stick their own info out there. Chris Coulter, for instance, sent tons of journalists regular updates that were really great (I’ve gotten at least 1,000 emails from Chris over the years, which were just like a blog).
LayZ only takes potshots at other people. I wonder if he does any real work. I sure would love to be able to see what the quality of his work is that he turns into his boss, cause he sure expects perfection here. Interesting expectation for someone who won’t even post his real name or employer.

I checked the search now and TMZ.com (the site that broke the story, I believe) is #1 now; not sure if it was before. Robert, my guess is that you were an an early poster about this, but I see plenty of good results when I did the search.
