The site sharing service that Mike likes: BlueDot

Mike Arrington of TechCrunch has been telling his readers and friends that he likes BlueDot for sharing his favorite sites with them, so I went up to Seattle and visited with the BlueDot team and learned more.

I love this service.

  2. I much prefer Stumbleupon over blue dot. The big thing about SU is that you don’t need to build up a network to start – you jump right into the fray and build it up really quick. You can also share stuff with your friends easily enough.

Plus they are turning a profit (been around since just after web 1.0 i think) and will stick around for longer than these new web 2.0 guys…

Any chance of seeing the SU guys in a video?

  4. I actually just did a post on del.icio.us, BlueDot and the new Yahoo! Bookmarks. I have started using del.icio.us more now and while the interface isn’t nearly as appealing as BlueDot or Yahoo! Bookmarks, it does what I want it to do for me and my blogs.

I watched the ScobleShow interview with the BlueDot guys and I agree that the service is fantastic and I may find myself using it one day. I don’t really feel the need to jump in right now because doing so would mean using yet another tool designed to help me share my bookmarks and favourite things with other people and I am already doing that with my blogs and services like Flickr, del.icio.us and YouTube. I have aggregated everything using claimid. To start using a new service would be adding another layer on top of everything else and to move to it would mean changing my whole setup where there is no real need.

I wonder if it isn’t better to take what works for you and use it the way you feel comfortable and not feel pressured to move to a new service unless it does what you want to do even better.
