Her husband ran for President last time around (and probably will next time too). But, last week at the ConvergeSouth conference she sat down with Maryam for a 14 minute interview where she talked about being a geek, a mom, a cancer survivor, videoblogger, and more.
This was Maryam’s second interview. Maryam (my wife) stole my last job and she’s well on her way to stealing my current one too. That’s OK, she stole my heart too. At least Maryam will let me run camera. 🙂
Elizabeth was really a gracious interview and admitted that she’s now using a PC cause she had both a PC and a Mac and her Mac was the only one stolen. We didn’t talk about political stands or positions, by the way, it wasn’t that kind of interview.
Maryam has more on her blog.
Wow, she did great…

Robert,
You found a jewel with Maryam. She did an outstanding interview. Unlike other video blogs, I stayed through the whole interview. I like this style of conversation. I was tempted to try to enter the conversation. Camera angle, slow moves to who was talking made the interview seem real and natural. You make a good team. You could even do “good cop, bad cop” routine to pull stuff out of the polititians. How about an interview with the First Lady or Ms.Coultier?
Tell Maryam as viewers, “we’re not worthy, we’re not worthy” Great Job.
It is cool to watch your site progress in style, grace and technology etc.
Oh yeh, Elizabeth was good too. ; )

Great interview; can we put it onto the ConvergeSouth server? (Ben does that sort of thing when you OK it.)

To be honest, I’m not reading Maryam any longer, since she started acting like Yoko Ono.

@5 Touche!
But, yes interview itself from a format perspective was great. Scoble, why don’t you appear to be learning anything from her. I could do without the content, however. The Edwards’ are no longer relevant.

John running for President would be a Republican Gift that Keeps on Giving. He’s beyond irrelevant, he’s a political non-grata. But if Ruddy runs, it’s all over for the Demos anyways.

More productional comments after repeat viewings…
It’s disconcerting look at Edwards from the side, it’s like she’s avoiding eye contact. In one-on-one’s the subject should always look at the camera. And Edwards folding hands, ouch. This really cried out for a 2 cam shoot, or lots of transitional shots, to fix in editing. Too many Edwards talking shots, yab yab, yab.
The framing was always jumping around, wasn’t centered (makes for harder edits). Chopped off her head too much. And lose that clock.
Maryam and Edwards needed to sit closer…too much white space gap. Made me seasick switching back and forth.
The audience has no idea of what happened or was talked about at some conference, it was too ‘insider’. Needed far more introduction and backgrounding.
Maryam totally has the perfect fun personality, just maybe write the questions down beforehand. More rapid-fire questions, and don’t let the interviewee’s do the Charlie Roseish run-on and on’s. Snappy quick and to a point. Not saying ambush style, just interesting.
PS – Ok ok, well, the FAD’s like my picky productional notes. 🙂
