Drinking Scotch while watching Diggnation

Have you ever noticed that Diggnation gets better if you’re drinking hard-core alcohol? I can’t believe 200,000+ people watch that show. John Batelle told me that FM Media is selling tens of thousands of dollars of ads on it every week. UPDATE: I must have misheard him, cause I learned that FM Media sells ads on Digg, not Diggnation, sorry about that.

Actually, the fact that Diggnation is bringing in the ad dollars means I’m aiming too high. What a brilliant idea. Get together on a couch. Drink some beer. Tell people what you think. And collect cash.

I’m jealous.

That said, I’d rather watch Photoshop Online. Heck, mix Photoshop Online with good Scotch and you’ll end up with nicer photos while getting drunk. Beats listening to Kevin Rose while HE gets drunk on cheap expensive beer.

OK, I gotta fess up. Thomas Hawk and Jan Kabili, the guru behind Photoshop Online, will be here in the morning filming a Photowalking session.

I think I’ll show her the new Paint.NET, which is looking pretty good.

  1. I should really truly hate Diggnation. Someone in Ireland listening to two west coast geeks who say “doooood” every few minutes drinking beers talking about tech stories on a US web-site.

But god help me, they are two funny funny doooooods and I just can’t help loving every minute. Top class entertainment. Humour and Tech both travel very well.

  3. These comments (and this video) were fueled by Laphroig…

Being Scottish while pretending to deliver a message from the President of the United States of America is the kind of post-Zefrank make-your-own-media way forward that should have everyone reaching for their own video cameras.

That said, can I just mention how annoying the title feature is in iMovie compared to frumpy but less second-guessy Windows Movie Maker…

  5. Well there are 2 inaccuracies in there. First of all FM Media sells ads on digg.com, not diggnation. Ads on diggnation are sold by revision3 staff. Second, Kevin nearly always drinks expensive beer :-).

  7. Seriously I agree with you, the people of diggnation are brilliant. But I enjoy diggnation completely even when I am sober. I should try watching it your way sometime though.

    ps-I’m jealous of them too.
