There’s so much happening in videoblogging that I am gonna spin that stuff out to a new blog. Gotta find a new home for this kind of stuff. What kind of stuff? Well, check out “ThisCityRocks.” Focuses on the Canadian music scene. Well done and interesting to listen to and watch. Makes me want to visit Vancouver! Warwick Patterson should be invited to do a session at Northern Voice.
I need a new blog

Literally. He had the first ride in the first Tesla. Siri was launched in his house. He's been the first to share all sorts of technologies and companies with you, from Flipboard to Pandora to Instagram. Today he's focusing on mixed reality, AKA "next-generation augmented reality" which will include a new user interface for EVERYTHING in your life (IoT, Smart Cities, driverless cars, robots, drones, etc). That's based on his view thanks to his past experience as futurist at Rackspace. Best place to find Scoble? On his Facebook profile at https://www.facebook.com/RobertScoble He has been a technology blogger since 2000, was one of five people who built Microsoft's Channel 9 video blog/community, worked at Fast Company Magazine running its TV efforts, and has been part of technology media businesses since 1993. ++++++++ SPEAKER PITCH: Apple and Facebook now have revealed their Augmented Reality strategies, which means your business needs one too. Rely on Robert Scoble, the world's top authority on AR, to bring to your conference what businesses should do next. SPEECH ABSTRACT #1: TITLE: The Fourth Transformation: What's next in mixed reality (AR and AI) and the future of technology? Here's an example of this talk at Leade.rs in Paris in April, 2017: https://youtu.be/52_0JshgjXI Why "the Fourth Transformation?" Soon we will have phones and glasses that do full on augmented reality. Everything you look at will potentially be augmented. This world is coming in late 2017 with a new iPhone from Apple, amongst other products. Microsoft is betting everything on its HoloLens glasses that do mixed reality and the industry is spending many billions of dollars in R&D and funding new companies like Magic Leap. This future will be the user interface for IoT, Smart Cities, autonomous cars, robots, drones, and your TV. This is a big deal and Robert will take you through what mixed reality is and how it will change every business. Learn more about Robert's speaking style and contact his agent at http://odemanagement.com/robert-scoble/Robert-Scoble.html ++++++++ SPEECH ABSTRACT #2: "The Next Two Clicks of Moore's Law." Over the next four years, or two clicks of Moore's Law, a ton about our technology world will change. Scoble will bring you the best from his travels visiting R&D labs, startups, and innovators around the world. He views the world through his rose-colored-mixed-reality glasses, which will be the new user interface for self driving cars, Smart Cities, IoT, and many other things in our world. He'll send you off with some lessons for companies both large and small. ++++++++ SPEECH ABSTRACT #3: "Personalized Meaning: What is Augmented Reality For?" As we enter a far more technological world where even cars drive themselves, I predict we'll see a blowback toward the analog, more authentic world. What role does augmented reality play in both worlds? Get Scoble's insight into where augmented reality is going, see tons of real-world demos, and understand what he means by 'personalized meaning.' Nice, but it’s not new new. MTV gone local circa 1983, only without the budget, production values, talent and major names. Been there done that, localized micro-broadcasting a nice pitch tho, will find a niche audience, but niche is all it will ever be. It’s Public Access minus the TV. All good, but revolutionary it is not.

Hi Robert,
I am not sure that you need a new blog or blog platform. But you might need a new theme or design.
Here are some suggestions for what you want to achieve (just a guess from my side).

http://themes.wordpress.net/
Especially you should take a look at the designs from Andreas Viklung. They are great!

Video blogging isn’t all it’s hyped up to be, at least in my opinion. I like an occasional video in a 75% text oriented blog, but blogs that focus mainly on videos aren’t that cool. At that point it’s a video podcast, which I don’ have a problem with, but it’s like calling a documentary or news show a journal.
That’s my opinion, though.
Cheers,
gamehawk

I was wondering …why hasnt there been a post from you condemning the attacks on innocent commuters in Bombay. My first reaction is to think “.. he dont care ..coz its not in US, or UK, or anywhere in West .. ” plz tell me that’s not the case …
I know that yours is a geek blog and not a political blog .. but just over a year ago when tragedy struck London .. you blogged abt it 4 times in a single day ..(http://radio.weblogs.com/0001011/2005/07/07.html#a10559)
I am sure you have tons of friends who are of Indian origin, but this is the least you can do to show your solidarity with those whom you cant talk in person or email …

I have to be honest – the term “videoblogging” is stupid. A blog is a web log of someone’s thoughts – a podcast generally is a totally different beast. Video blogging generally has a lot more in common with podcasting in nature than blogging.
“Vlog” “video blog”, etc, are all stupid terms that in my opinion don’t do the medium justice. It’s amazing that with the possibilities in these new types of media, we couldn’t come up with something better than “vlog.”

Wow, you are not kidding about thiscityrocks.com Robert, that is such a great concept and so well executed. I can’t think of a better topic that the live music scene either. Amazingly cheap to do as well, served on youtube, blog through typepad. Man, it just seems like so much more fun 🙂
I feel behind the curve, I’m just starting on episode 3 of a podcast and now I want to do a “thiscityrocks” thing somewhere 🙂
BTW I wouldn’t be surprised if podcasting becomes the term for video and audio in the end, I know right now people are thinking audio, but video podcasting seems a pretty appropriate/accurate term when I have a mixture of video and audio all coming into itunes.
Cheers,
Karl

Well, speaking about your blog…
I’m sometimes getting a 404 on your blog. It happened a couple times this week (and just right now before I posted this).
Might want to look into that.
Also,
Come on MSN sometime! Not like PodTech is gonna force you to use GTalk instead of MSN or something. 🙂

Yeah, I’m not too keen on videoblogging either, mostly because there’s no way to skim past the drivel to the good stuff ;). Just post a vid to this blog every once in a while to satisfy your craving!

With video widely available, I think this is worth venturing into.
I am working on similar kind of project here on WordPress. It’s heavy metal music videos something like Metal-On-Demand kind of stuff.

Its gotta be short and sweet. Anyone know how prevalent its becoming, ie vblogs vs. number of uniques? I have been working with 88Slide a daily one minute trivia contest which is one creative use, wondering if there are other concepts adapting traditional tv models to the web using video.
