  1. Robert,

Numbers do matter. Regardless of industry, trade or event. Face it, if the Microsoft stock price started performing like your blog just did I am sure the investors would start coming back, the brain drain would stop and even more innovative products would come out.

Perhaps you leaving Microsoft will cause you to be even MORE critical of Microsoft once you get a different perspective. Personally I believe that would be a very good thing. As I am loyal Microsoft customer for over 20 years I am at the end of my rope dealing with the DCC’s and DE’s in my area as they NEVER, EVER return my emails.

Want to create a more human face to Microsoft respond to the customer emails regardless of how “small” they might be. Blogging helps but so does good old fashioned customer service. That is my perspective at least.

  3. I just moved my site to WordPress and I wanted to know if your stats is a plugin and if so which one?

and yes numbers do matter…in more things than we care to realize.

  5. Scoble, I though you said you had 50,000 subscribers but your stats only show 4,000 page views a day except for the last couple of days. Is this all it takes to be an A-list blogger?

Not trying to be snarky (probably am), but I’ve always viewed Microsoft for being as creative with its marketshare as, um, you were when you claimed 12 times the traffic you actually get. Channel9 claims 3.5 million viewers/day – is that an “exaggeration” too?

Didn’t you get more traffic at radio.weblogs?

  7. Anon: that page doesn’t show my subscribers. Only hits to the HTML page. I’ll post the subscriptions page tomorrow. I had 29,000+ RSS subscribers last time I looked.

  9. So it takes jumping ship to hit the news to make the html-hits skyrocket?

    Nevah woodah guess dit! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I see you’re going to have to change your details:
“Robert Scoble works at Microsoft (title: technical evangelist).”

  11. The stats are not really saying it all. It seems the daily page views was hovering around 4,000 before the big news. That just doesn’t seem right. Even lowly schmucks like me get 4,000 page views a day.

  13. Dharmesh: I have a lot of people who read me in their aggregators. According to my feed stats, last week I was at more than 23,000 RSS subscribers. Also, last week, I was averaging about 10,000 HTML hits. The graph makes it look at about 4,000, but it really was at about 10,000.

  15. you should all notice that 4,000 is about the lowest those numbers go, there are also some dots at around 19,000. and of course being a technical site you would expect RSS feed numbers would be pretty decent ๐Ÿ™‚

@Kevin Baggs, the stats are a feature of wordpress.com. afaik you can’t get it for other wordpress blogs yet.

  17. Google stats are notoriously low. Like way way low.

It once told my my main blog was getting 300 visits a day when Webalyzer on the server said it was 4,000.
