JazzFest is on, can we deal with more geek events?

Thomas Hawk is shooting awesome photos from New Orleans' Jazz Fest this weekend.

It's awesome that MSN is broadcasting the festival live. Ernie the Attorney, who lives in New Orleans, told me that this year's JazzFest will be historic and that they are seeing even more awesome musicians coming to town than they usually do.

Anyone see any other great blogging or podcasting or videoblogging from New Orleans? Let us know.

As for MindCamp, I'll be there today, unfortunately it's sold out so if you don't have tickets it won't be possible to get you in. That's a good reminder to get your tickets for these events: MeshForum (mid-May in San Francisco); Syndicate (mid-May in New York); VSLive (mid-May in Orlando and Mid-June in Las Vegas); Microsoft Mobile and Embedded DevCon (mid-May in Las Vegas); Windows Hardware Conference (mid-May in Seattle); eBayDevCon (mid-June in Las Vegas); SuperNova (mid-June in San Francisco); TechEd (mid-June in Boston); Gnomedex (end of June in Seattle); Reboot (beginning of June in Copenhagen) and BlogHer (end of July in Silicon Valley). Tickets to most of these events are going quickly.

Update: I forgot VLoggerCon (mid-June in San Francisco).

Can the world take more geek and blogger conferences? I sure can't. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but I'm exhausted just by listing them all out.

  1. I lived in New Orleans in the late ’70’s and the Jazz and Heritage Festival was all over town for over two weeks. I went out to clubs every night and to the Fairgrounds on the weekends.

    Some of the most famous musicians from everywhere would perform, but Fes would always close the show.

    I’ll be at Interop in Vegas next week, then MEDC…..see you at Syndicate…hope you can make it to our NYCDOTNETDEV UG on 5/18…..but you know I’d trade all of my tomorrows for one single yesterday to be back at the New Orleans the Jazz and Heritage Festival dancing to da Music…

  3. Was at Mindcamp #1, won’t be at #2 as we’re moving into a new office. For all those mind camping, hope your internet is better this time and don’t get bitten by werewolves 🙂

    Thinking about iTec June 21-21, but that’s near family vacation time. Would like to check out one of the podcast conventions someday.

    Can anybody recommend a good podcast convention/camp?

  9. Almost through a full day at Seattle Mind Camp 2.0. It has been education, inspiring, and just down right fun. I ran into a bunch of people I haven’t seen in a while which was also cool.

    The Search Marketing and Start-up sessions where my favorites. I’ve summarized them on my blog for those interested – alexcastro.typepad.com. I also podcasted the Search Marketing Session.

  11. Reboot is nearly out of tickets and from my opinion *the* event to go to in Europe. Portable Media Expo end of September in Ontario, CA will be crazy.

    More Europe: Podcastday 2006 in Cologne, Germany (but you should be able to understand German, podcastday2006.com for more info)

    Podcastcon UK will be November.

    And it would be nice if sites like upcoming.org actually would let me search for ranges of dates so I could see how I should determine my trip dates from Europe. And they should be tagged with something like web20 because I am not going through hundreds of uninteresting events like on eventful.

    and, of course, there is Wine Camp in Calaveras County (CA) May 26-28th a $60 event for geeks and non-profits to come together and solve non-profit issues with technology (as well as to help geeks ‘give back’ to the community)…with wine! and camping!

    Then, of course, you’ll want to check out (or run) a BarCamp in your area. We just got back from Bangalore, are attending Toronto in mid-May and look forward to San Francisco in June.

    I’m debating about Blogher and VloggerCon…should I go?

Here is one more conference to name, the Business Smart Tools conference where David Parmet, David Pogue, Mike Dunn, John Piccone, Greg Verdino and more are the speakers…we are also having a lively lineup of live demos featuring TVEyes, Ingenio, Roo and more. This is in Stamford, CT, June 13 from 2-6.

    Our audience is the business sector, we are trying to bridge the gap between corporate and tech by teaching the fundamentals and the long term benefits of social media.
