Xbox takes down TechCrunch

The Web 2.0 bubble has burst. Tech Crunch is dead.

What did it?

Michael Arrington got an Xbox 360.

See, I can blow things out of all proportion too! Heheh.

  1. I’m not sure how this is Web 2.0, well unless you consider that he probably ordered it 6 months ago and it finally arrived late. Production of these things is till in beta, like most of Web 2.0.

  3. Ditto to #6…

Beyond late and still beta, and iffy backwards compat, and random Acts of God errors, and gosh, rounded corners…Xbox 360 is quite Web 2.0ish. But then that’s just Microsoft, impressive piece of kit even so…but the OS still feels like an XBMC ripoff, and far far less functional, but the hardware is kicking and good games finally hitting.

  5. Just got back from a Target store in my neighborhood (Orange County, California) where, behind a glass cabinet, 2 Xbox 360 Premium Systems and 4 Core Systems beckoned to me, rather seductively.

Very soon, $399 will disappear from my bank account and reappear in Bill Gates’s. Lord knows he could use the money.

  7. I’ve had mine since New Year’s day (one of the few advantages of living in the backwoods of the south). Any luck with getting the developers of Second Life to port it over to the 360, Scoble? Final Fantasy XI made the jump, they should too. One word of caution though on Xbox live arcade, beware of Zuma. That game is so addictive. My wife has taken over the 360 and plays it more than I do now.

  9. Now if the bloglords can get streaming videos (the other formats) to the 360, I will take the plunge too.
    Why aren’t you listening?

  11. Robert: Microsoft just held a Xbox 360 conference in Japan this morning (midnight EST). They may not be doing well in Japan (something they address in the conference), but they are certainly fighting the good fight there.

You are aware that XBMC is itself a shameless ripoff of Microsoft’s own Windows: Media Center Edition design, right?

Funny, I’ve had XBMC on my box since about a year and half before Windows Media Center released…
