BIO:
Scoble gives you a front-row seat on the future.
Literally. He had the first ride in the first Tesla. Siri was launched in his house. He's been the first to share all sorts of technologies and companies with you, from Flipboard to Pandora to Instagram.
Today he's focusing on mixed reality, AKA "next-generation augmented reality" which will include a new user interface for EVERYTHING in your life (IoT, Smart Cities, driverless cars, robots, drones, etc).
That's based on his view thanks to his past experience as futurist at Rackspace.
Best place to find Scoble? On his Facebook profile at https://www.facebook.com/RobertScoble
He has been a technology blogger since 2000, was one of five people who built Microsoft's Channel 9 video blog/community, worked at Fast Company Magazine running its TV efforts, and has been part of technology media businesses since 1993.

SPEAKER PITCH:
Apple and Facebook now have revealed their Augmented Reality strategies, which means your business needs one too. Rely on Robert Scoble, the world's top authority on AR, to bring to your conference what businesses should do next.
SPEECH ABSTRACT #1:
TITLE: The Fourth Transformation: What's next in mixed reality (AR and AI) and the future of technology?
Here's an example of this talk at Leade.rs in Paris in April, 2017: https://youtu.be/52_0JshgjXI
Why "the Fourth Transformation?"
Soon we will have phones and glasses that do full on augmented reality. Everything you look at will potentially be augmented. This world is coming in late 2017 with a new iPhone from Apple, amongst other products. Microsoft is betting everything on its HoloLens glasses that do mixed reality and the industry is spending many billions of dollars in R&D and funding new companies like Magic Leap.
This future will be the user interface for IoT, Smart Cities, autonomous cars, robots, drones, and your TV.
This is a big deal and Robert will take you through what mixed reality is and how it will change every business.

SPEECH ABSTRACT #2:
"The Next Two Clicks of Moore's Law."
Over the next four years, or two clicks of Moore's Law, a ton about our technology world will change. Scoble will bring you the best from his travels visiting R&D labs, startups, and innovators around the world.
He views the world through his rose-colored-mixed-reality glasses, which will be the new user interface for self driving cars, Smart Cities, IoT, and many other things in our world.
He'll send you off with some lessons for companies both large and small.
++++++++
SPEECH ABSTRACT #3:
"Personalized Meaning: What is Augmented Reality For?"
As we enter a far more technological world where even cars drive themselves, I predict we'll see a blowback toward the analog, more authentic world.
What role does augmented reality play in both worlds?
Get Scoble's insight into where augmented reality is going, see tons of real-world demos, and understand what he means by 'personalized meaning.'

Retranslation: Magazines suck, like who reads them anymore, not sure, no longer a big deal. Blogs made Live better, ‘word-o-mouth’ like rules and stuff, like yeah, but still way totally kewl that Live winning neato awards for people who read those non-blog things, but bad Live branding, bad doggie, bad, bad (swat with rolled-up newspaper), but oh they have a blog, so THERE, and online maps are like so totally cool, so krad, and yay, check out these totally most-excellent righteous Super Bowl Photo Mashups, wheeeee.
Man, a better example of ADD, I know not.

I think the whole “Windows Live” naming convention should be rethought. It strikes me as an attempt to extend the Windows franchise, or at least its branding and mindshare, into the new world of web-based services. If users are adopting these so-called Web 2.0 services in part to escape the deficiencies of the dominant desktop apps (e.g., MS Office) then the Windows name is an albatross. It’s misplaced at best since the services have little to do with the Windows OS. When something named Flickr can achieve stratospheric popularity it shows that there is no need for the service’s name to be anchored in the past. Why not just brand all of the “Live” strategy as Start.com?

When can I get MS’s mapping stuff (wasn’t it Virtual Earth? whatever, I don’t care what you call it) on my Blackberry? Google maps are awesome on it.

And one more thing – When is there going to be more coverage of the rest of the world? I’m on my way to Melborne, Australia and there are no decent online maps. Google just has an outline of the continent, while you guys at least have the major city names. I’d like to see real global coverage. You can skip places like N Korea and Iran if you’d like.

Well it’s not one word, but what was wrong with “Virtual Earth”? I liked it A LOT better than Live Local, a name that you have to explain.

When Live Local gets past New York, Chicago, LA, and San Francisco, let me know.
All the services attempting to do local just peter out once they get much past the big four, let along the top 100 cities in the US.
Gee, NY is covered by Live Local and PC Magazine is in NY. What a surprise to see them gush over Live Local!
Yawn.

I agree with Miles Archer –
I was playing with google maps and created a mashup that displays Australian Weather forecasts (sourced from http://www.bom.gov.au . The problem is that the resolution is crap – click on map to compare the sateliite v map resolution
I looked at map-point, vritual earth etc, but all have similar (i.e. crap) resolution.
Ties into this whole ‘digital life’ mem that was doing the rounds a few weeks ago – funny but none of those flight checking sites worked with qf553 (FWIW, thats my weekly sydney brisbane commute).
So much of this whole web 2.0 is pointless outside Seattle, Meadowview, the valley and a few bits of the east coast of the USA.

Martin – The MapPoint Web Service has had Street level coverage of all of Australia and New Zealand for a while now. We’ll be adding these maps to Windows Live Local soon, but for now you can certainly get a lot of mileage from using MWS in your application. For a preview of the maps:
http://mappoint.msn.com and select Australia in the dropdown country list.
for info on developing with MWS SOAP api go to msdn.microsoft.com
If you don’t want to use the soap API today, just hang in there a short while until we add the AU maps to Virtual Earth and WLL. Drop me a mail if any questions (address below)
