Climbing the RSS Summit

Another RSS conference has sprung up and I’m speaking at it: The RSS Summit at Hyatt Regency Cambridge in Cambridge, MA.

The marketers are still trying to figure out why RSS took off and how they should react. They see that even major news sites like the BBC are getting into RSS (nice new site, by the way) and that Microsoft this year will release a browser with RSS built in and they know something is up, but don’t know why, or how.

The geeks who invented this stuff probably will find these conferences not worthy, but that’s OK. RSS is crossing the chasm and now different kinds of conferences are needed.

I am gonna yell at their marketing team, though. That site is particularly lame. No RSS. No blog.

If you’re doing a conference you NEED an RSS feed and a blog. At minimum. Check out the Mix06 site, for instance.

Not just them, sooooo letseee, MacWorld and CES boring and dullsville, but this is vital and interesting? 😉 I guess I am in a parallel universe then.

With Mix06, a RSS feed and a blog is all you got…

  3. And I never said this was as important as CES or MacWorld.

Oh, and there’ll be more announcements soon about Mix. That’s why we have an RSS feed so you’ll know about them first.

  5. More announcements soon? Dude, the conference is only a few weeks away. You need announcements and all info upfront, so people can plan. You’d better end up calling it a “get-together” over a conference.

Tablane browser http://www.tablane.com is the first browser storing the Bookmarks in RSS format, you can create new bookmarks tree in addition to your exists one (it is called collection). It is very easy to publish a Collection of bookmarks as an RSS feed or email it to a colleague.
