I’m seeing some disappointment at not being included in my blogroll anymore (I’ve gotten a few emails, and there are a few blog posts commenting on the fact that their writers aren’t included in my reading anymore). I’m sorry about that. But, I looked at why I wasn’t reading feeds anymore and I realized it just made me tired to look at my feeds. I had subscribed to too many. And now with Memeorandum and Digg I found I didn’t miss many, if any, of the “big” items. So, I pruned back. A lot. Now my list is very high quality and only includes people who write about technology. That means I deleted many of my friends’ feeds. I’m keeping those in a separate feed reader so I can catch up on what people like Halley and Nick are doing, but I wanted my list to stay focused on tech feeds.

Good stuff mate. I did this a week or two ago and I’m down to about 100 feeds (from a high of about 600 a year ago). It feels good to be able to read all of them in just 10 minutes.

I find it interesting that people would like it more to just be included than actually be read.
While I of course like to be subscribed to, I find it more important that things I write do have something to add to what people want.

I’ve found myself doing less and less reading, and more and more scanning, particularly by using smart feeds like feedster, technorati, etc.

Hahahha, yah 4 years late. Less can be more sometimes, esp. with blogs.

Just as an FYI, you have http://www.furrygoat.com/rss.aspx as my RSS feed in your OPML – it’s actually http://www.furrygoat.com/index.xml
