  10. Why do people like Feedster? EVERY time I go there to claim a feed or something, it is broken or slow. Just now I managed to claim my feed after the second try, nothing different, just took me two tries (and yes the link was in the RSS etc.).

    I’ve also emailed to get obsolete (old domain name) feeds removed, with no response.

    Then I asked for a new password via email (just in case), and was unable to change my password back. Still can’t. There is zero feedback on the change password page. Plus the passwords are sent in the clear as part of the URL (GET mode) on a non-encrypted page. WTF is up with that?!

    Simple little things, but enough to make me just give up and go to Bloglines and/or Technorati.

  13. Ben: I use it in conjunction with other services. I don’t claim that many feeds there. For that I like Pubsub. They all have their advantages and disadvantages.

  16. Agreed Robert, but I’d be interested to know if anyone else has the same issue with password changes. Seems fundamentally broken to me. Hope Scott is reading this.

    Ben — I’m writing up a response on your own blog so people see my response in context with yours. But, in sort, you’re basically right. Some fairly simple things in Feedster like password resets were poorly implemented and haven’t been fixed.

    Feed claiming, honestly, has been problematic for sometime but that seems to have been due to the fact that many people don’t have full content feeds so when we issued them a link to blog, it didn’t show up in their feed. We now issue them either a link or a randomized string we can match against. Either will work and the system automatically tries both.

    We’ve also written a more more extensive tutorial on Feed Claiming: http://feedster.com/tutorials/claimfeed/

    Feedster certainly isn’t perfect and, as a founder, I’m generally our strongest critic so thank you for the feedback and I’ll personally see it gets addressed.

    I’m happy to report that thanks to TMobile wireless at SFO, I’ve fixed the password change issue. I just changed my password three times and it worked for me at least. Please let me know if that doesn’t work for you.

  30. Podcast consumers don’t link… podtech.net has a ton of traffic but doesn’t get any linkage because we’re not actively blogging but podtech.net is a blog. We’ve also moved our servers three different time in the past few months due to traffic load.
