Rick Segal gets to the heart of what rocks about corporate blogs

One little sentence, by Venture Capitalist Rick Segal, explains just why corporate blogging is so powerful: “having one of the designers tell me what they fixed, what didn’t get added, etc, tends to make the relationship I have with the product and by extension the people who made it, personal.”

  1. You have a personal relationship with my comment system. Which is software. So, when you gonna seek help?

  3. I remember when Unreal (the FPS game) first came out and when I was doing some research into whether I’d grab it (always check for patches before buying), I was absolutely amazed as to how much detail the developers were giving away in their patch files, they detailed exactly why they were releasing the patch and what it did, most of it around making it work faster on slower machines.

Being a developer myself, ever since then I’ve tried for that same kind of openness when I release new code (even if it is only inhouse code). So yeah I definitely agree with Rick Segal’s comment!

  5. Well, I don’t agree with Rick Segal’s comments.

I can tell you from personal experience that the integrity of this individual is extremely compromised.

Just do your own research. Particularly the “Steve Barkto Incident” (old news yes, but something Rick doesn’t deny and fails to explain himself on, as to why he used his credit card, yet posted online comments under the name “Steve Barkto”). The Los Angeles times reported on this quite sometime ago.

Speaking of “go” — I will not be one to go away. This individual, again speaking from personal experience, has serious credibility problems. Also, again, do your own research on this.

Mr. Rick Segal, when confronted by me in a deposition, refused to shake my hand afterwards. I could not even look me in the eye.

I will be here for quite sometime, following the exploits of this individual. When he speaks of something “personal” to him; I can tell you to consider what this term means; and what his sincerity.

Do your homework on this individual.

p.s. Here’s your chance Rick (the self proclaimed lover of blogging) — explain why you have posted comments (in a sense blogging of the early and mid 90’s) under a false name, a company that did not exist, and comments that were not true? This is nothing more than a challenge to you to explain your actions instead of coming off in a way I have personally experienced by you.

I will be watching for quite sometime to come. Take care (yes, I mean “take, care”).

  7. I want to add, that I am personally amused also by the comments of Coulter, “Anyone having a personal relationship with software needs serious head-shrink help.”

    I agree.

I find it interesting how you have a desire to blog/post Rick, but everywhere you go, one person or another seems to see something not quite right with your comments. Personally, I won’t speak of what offends me so much about what my personal knowledge of your false statements, but then again, as you have said in other posts on the net you are a self proclaimed blogger, in a sense of sort.
