Race report

The guy I interviewed on Friday crashed. Danica Patrick and Jacques collided in the fourth turn. I was in the pits watching the Target crew and the mood turned very quiet. Some adult language was used. But, the race was fun anyway. Thanks to the Target team for being such great hosts! Better luck next season.

  1. Better luck next season? Target Chip Ganassi Racing has crashed out in nearly every race this year. It’s karma, Floyd’s got it comin’. It’s a bummer the Princess pinched down on your guy but it’s not like either one had a shot at anything but a top 10 or 15.

Come to Portland next year for the Champ Car race. Real Racing, Real Sport.

    BTW, FTG!

  3. First WordPress is slow and buggy, the page loads hang up everytime then I have to (F5) them to get them to load. Secondly, the Pit Crew using Adult Language? Call the PC Pit police! Gimme a break, was that even worth mentioning?

  5. Looks like the target car must have bluescreened! Perhaps they shouldn’t run their car on Windows XP. 🙂

  7. Ron: The car was runover by Danicka’s car. Not much he could do about it.

Crappy: the reason for that, I’m told, is the Toyota engines they had this year. They had less power than the Honda ones that other teams had. So they removed some downforce to try to keep up. When you do that you make the car harder to handle.

  9. Robert, there is a WordPress Plugin that (may or may not, depending on how you see it) could clean up comments in a way. Instead of having to individually address people, you can reply to their comment and it will show it as threaded.

I know Larry Hyrb has that working over there.

  11. I’m not a Danica fan or apologist although I’m glad for the PR she’s brought IRL. But, the replays were clear in this case that Jacques drifted up, Danica didn’t come down. Maybe she should have given him more room, especially if she knew (according to her bitter interview) that Jacques had been all over the track all day.
Reality check: “That’s racing” would have been the right answer for both of them to give in the interviews.

  13. Jim, interesting. I only saw two replays and it wasn’t clear who was at fault. Of course my understanding of the event was colored by being in the Target pits at the time. 😉

  15. If Jacques’ car was all over the place, that’d match what I’d heard earlier from TracksideOnline that the Target team’s car was underpowered and so they had removed some downforce from the car.

  17. An ESPN article said that Jacque’s car was all over, but that Danica pinned him in and “didnt give him room” at points in the race. But…that is racing.

  19. The lack of HP in the Toyota is the reason they don’t win. Lack of talent is why they twisted up a bunch of tubs this season. Cheever’s got Toyotas and they don’t stuff it as much as TCGR does. Foyt and Panther have use a Chevy and they don’t seem to have that problem, except when young Quatro exceeds his ability. The reason TCGR isn’t doing well isn’t because of Toyota. It’s because the suck.
