And, what did he do? He reminded me that AOL has a damn good search engine too — check this search out for Microsoft Real Settlement 2005. It’s better than Google/Yahoo/MSN. Sorry about forgetting about you guys.

    I like the fact that you’ve finally switched over to WordPress, but I don’t like the fact that the blog entries are cut in the feeds. I liked being able to read the whole of your post inside start.com, instead of having to fiddle to open a new window and read the whole thing.
    A wise man once said, and I’m paraphrasing, that there’s no point having a blog entry if you can’t see all of it in there.
    (That was you in response to BugBash, if I remember correctly..)

  15. When you try to make a political statement and use a link pointing to a Slashdot site, you’re committing electronic suicide.

    Moving on…

    Blogging is fun and all, I suppose… My only rant is the fact that I have 1024×768 realty for a fully expanded FireFox browser window — I’d like to see the text take that space up instead of spending more time scrolling than reading.

    Nothing more annoying than seeing more space taken up by GOOGLE advertisements, or some other advertisements relating to what you’re browsing. I take that back, the actual reading content that I’m looking for being in a very narrow column in the middle, extreme left or extreme right column of a web blog is more annoying. I love staring at a lightbulb when I read blogs most of the time.

    I think you should put some JavaScripts on this page — add a little spice like SnowFlakes, PopUp dialog boxes, dHTML links — OOH! A couple iFrames!?

  19. Like mvPStar says, the AOL search is powered by Google. If you look closely at the results, you will see that they are exactly the same, except that AOL trims multiple results from the same site.

    Some of this might depend on your preferences, and what, if anything they know about your search history. If you have no history with AOL and have consistently misused Google, you might get better results with AOL.

    Misuse would be something like searching for Microsoft+Real+Settlement+2005″ and then clicking through on the one of the sponsored links on either of these sets of results. The sponsored links are irrelevant; all of the actual results seem relevant.

    On the subject of themes, is it possible to change this one? The pale putrid green makes me want to vomit every time I see it.

    Now who was it who said Microsoft employees had no taste? Or maybe it’s an anti-troll device, like leaving bright lights on in parking malls. It’s probably going to work too!

  35. Without anonymity, there is no such thing as free speech anymore… The internet brings a certain level of anonymity to the game.

    With respect to your opinion of him/her ‘not doing any good’ by not putting his name — I believe he/she is obviously doing _some_ good. Look at the popularity and just of what’s going on. I believe that if he/she had revealed his/her name, the game would be over and people wouldn’t care for what that person had to say — Majority of “MiniMSFT’s” readers would rule out “MiniMSFT’s” opinions based on whom that person is. For all we know, ‘MiniMSFT’ could be a congressional leader — highly unlikely, but hell, this IS the internet. =)

    I too, admittedly, am curious as to who is behind the text; although a part of me doesn’t want to know for fear of me passing judgement to the writer, for reasons previously explained.

    So rock on.

  37. Scoble, some suggestions now that you’re on a real blogging platform:

    1. Use categories (it’ll increase your google juice massively)
    2. Show monthly archives (ditto)
    3. Migrate your posts across (there’s a tool for this, I’m fairly sure)
    4. Install the Subscribe to Comments plugin. It’ll allow people to stay up to date on the discussion, which is good.

    If you need help with any or all of this, I’m happy to do it. It’d only take 5 minutes.

    Either way, congrats. It’ll take you a month or two to get the Google Juice you had before, but once you have it, I’d be surprised if you don’t get to a PR of 8 with all your posts, with categories and with archives. There’s something to be said for having 20-50K pages indexed in Google (like many older WP blogs have).
